NPI Specialist

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the NPI Specialistis responsible for assisting the Document Control lead and Process Control Manager in maintaining and continuously improving the Document Control Quality System in order to support the business and release of work instructions, meet regulations and established requirements. Ensures that product and product related documents are processed through the DocuShare database in compliance with established procedures, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs), Deviations and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs). This individual is instrumental in the open communication with internal teams on meeting company goals and objectives pertaining to documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Ensure compliance with ISO documentation control and retention requirements.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation for build processes relating to the core competencies of the organization.
- Process, distribute, store, and control Master Customer Files for all assigned customer products including manufacturing documentation.
- Coordinate documentation schedule with engineering, planners, account managers, and buyers.
- Works closely with Engineering to support their efforts during New Product Introductions.
- Resolve documentation questions and issues for engineering, planners, programs managers, and buyers.
- Interpret customer BOMs.
- Maintain Engineering Master Revisions.
- Generate and structure Engineering Masters based off of the customer’s BOM’s and Engineering Quotes including part number creation, product routing, and creating supplemental information/instructions.
- Revise BOMs, AVL, routings, procedures and MFG documents in accordance with our established procedures and prepares document packages for New Product Introductions
- Compiles and maintains control records and related files to release prints, drawings, and engineering documents to manufacturing and other operating departments.
- Report on the Engineer Open Order schedule for NPI review on-time delivery.
- Distribute and control documentation across the production floor.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:
- Minimum high school graduate or general education degree (GED).
- 3 plus years of relevant document experience highly preferred including documentation in electrical assembly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Familiarity with document management and MRP/ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Results focused and deadline driven ensuring that tasks are reviewed, prioritized, actioned and followed-up in a timely manner.
- Ability to meet multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is conducted in an office and manufacturing environment and may require some or all of the following:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
- Repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Capable of lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or material weighing up to 50 lbs.May involve moving or setting up equipment for testing or demonstration.
- Frequent reaching, grasping, pushing or pulling, bending or twisting motions.
- Walking and standing for extended periods during site inspections, meetings or while supervising construction or manufacturing processes.
- Standing, bending or kneeling to access equipment, perform on-site assessments, operate machinery, handle delicate components or perform detailed inspections.
- Occasional travel to client sites or other company facilities may be required.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations including the ability to move quickly from job sites or perform urgent troubleshooting.
- Working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. May involve exposure to battery chemicals or other materials used in the assembly process.
- Required to wear and properly use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves as required by safety protocols.
